A short bio
I was born on April 19, 1989; my hometown is Yekaterinburg, Russia.
I have been studying at the local “Coryphaeus” school (which specializes in humanities) for nine years. I realized pretty soon that I liked mathematics and programming more than ancient history, drawing and architecture, but I stayed in “Coriphaeus”, because people around me were smart enough to let me do what I liked (furthermore, they encouraged me to do so): participating in maths olympiads and conferences, and writing software.
Then our maths teacher Lyudmila Georgiyevna Kurmachyova (if it wasn't for her, I would barely know mathematics at all) left the school. I made a decision: I wanted to enter the department of mathematics and mechanics at the Ural State University after graduating from high school, so I needed to pick a more math-oriented school in order to achieve my goal. AESC USU seemed like a perfect choice, and it was, indeed.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to the “coolest” class (maths + physics), instead, I ended up in physics + chemistry class. But still, those two years were a wonderful experience. I met some very smart and interesting people, started to participate in programming competitions (I even went to All-Russian Olympiad in Informatics in 2006), and finally made my mind — computer science and mathematics were the right things to choose.
In 2006, I passed all the exams and entered the said department. Now (2008) I'm a sophomore specializing in Computer Science.
